Having roots in Memphis keeps me in tune to Memphis culture and Memphis rappers. Im always eyeing my opportunity to work with new and upcoming artists or visualizing working with current big artists in the city. That said, Dolph was one of the people I began to study. He was totally independent and a boss who made the right decisions. He had a very unique flow and was a trendsetter in Memphis culture. A lot of my music is Memphis inspired and I took ques from Dolph's persona to help my song writing.
Today they held a memorial service for him and it was very touching. They even went as far as to give him his own day. To see a black man held high for his righteous ways inspires me to continue to live in that same light. Its hard to see reward in being a good person with people like Dolph being killed the way he was. However, not all people are evil and I believe that people are still capable of appreciating you. Rip to Dolph may his legacy last many lifetimes.
